Biography

Bilal Iftikhar is currently earning his Ph.D. at Georgia Tech in Water Resource Engineering under the advisement of Dr. Aris Georgakakos.

As a teacher assistant in Civil Engineering Department the major actions related to academic activities are as under:

  • Teacher assistant of different major subjects at Bachelor level related to Civil Engineering (Irrigation Engineering, Fluid Mechanics-I, Fluid Mechanics-II, Surveying I & II)
  • Supervision of experimental work in laboratory related to Fluid Mechanics, and Hydraulics, Environmental Engineering-I, Environmental Engineering-II, Hydrology and water Resources.

Field Experience

  • Design water supply, sewerage and drainage system of project “labour complex” Taxila, Pakistan(3 Months, July 11  To  Sept 11)
  • Worked as Juniour Design Engineer in NESPAK, I was mainly responsible for preparation of Master Planning for the whole complex. Preparation of   PC-1, Preliminary Design Report, Draft Final Design Report, Final Design Report with Detail BOQ and engineering Cost Estimate and Planning of appropriate route of storm water drain.
  • Construction of River Training Works on River Ravi, Sidhnai, Pakistan    (8 Months, Aug 2012 To May 13)
  • Worked as Assistant Engineer/Sub Divisional Officer Sidhnai Barrage, Irrigation Department, Punjab, I was mainly responsible for the safe passage of Flood through Sidhnai barrage on River and the main assignments includemaintenance and regulation of barrage and also include construction of River training works.
  • Construction of Chakari-Chahan Dam Road Including Bridge, Rawalpindi, Pakistan (6 Months, May 2013  To Oct 13)
  • Worked as Assistant Engineer/Sub Divisional Officer Rawal Dam, Irrigation Department, Punjab, under the consultancy of National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK). I was mainly responsible for excavation, laying and compaction of road layers to include sub-base, base and asphaltic wearing course.
  • For Bridge Construction, main responsibility assigned was concrete batching and pouring for piles, beams and deck slab of RCC bridges.
  • Construction of Chahan Dam, Mujhaid Dam and Mahota Dam,  Rawalpindi, Pakistan (May 2013 To June 2016)
  • Working as Assistant Engineer/Sub Divisional Officer Rawal Dam, Small Dams Organization, Irrigation Department, Punjab, involved in constructing new dams like Chahan, Mujhid, Mahota. As a Project Engineer, responsible for the design and construction of those projects, mainly include Preparation of detailed designs of dams and Irrigation channel, Preparation of computer models, Cost estimates and Tender Documents, Project scheduling and progress monitoring.
  • Feasibility study of New Dams in Potohar Region, Pakistan ( March 2015 To June 2016)
  • Working as Team leader, I am mainly responsible for the completion feasibility study of all the potential sites in Potohar region.
  • Flood Mitigation of Potohar Region, Pakistan ( May 2012 To June 2016)
  • Working as Focal person for Flood in Potohar Region, Pakistan, I am mainly involved in flood mitigation of 58 dams in Potohar region.
